RIVERSIDE, CA – Western Municipal Water District (Western) is pleased to announce the release of its 2021 Consumer Confidence Report. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and State Water Resources Control Board Division of Drinking Water (DDW) require this annual water quality report to demonstrate how your local drinking water measures up to local, state, and federal purity standards.
In 2021, Western collected samples from 110 locations within its distribution system, performing nearly 30,000 tests monitoring for contaminants and impurities to guarantee the safety and quality of the drinking water delivered to the homes, businesses, and schools within Western’s service area. Western continues to demonstrate excellence in providing safe, reliable, high-quality water and is proud to meet all stringent drinking water quality standards set by the EPA and DDW.
“Our customers can rely daily on Western’s commitment to delivering safe, reliable, high-quality – from supply source to your meter,” said General Manager Craig Miller. “There is no greater priority for our agency, and we are proud of meeting the strict requirements of our regulatory partners.”
The annual water quality report also contains information about how Western expands access to local water supplies and invests in new infrastructure projects, supporting regional efforts to keep water flowing even during drought and water supply shortages.
“Developing new water sources is even more critical during the state’s prolonged drought conditions,” added Miller. “Conservation and efficient water use for all Californians will continue to be essential to get through this drought, but we must also pursue a variety of solutions to solve our long-term water crisis.”
