RIVERSIDE, CA – On Wednesday, June 16, 2021, the Western Municipal Water District (Western) Board of Directors voted unanimously to fill a vacancy on its Board by appointment, as provided under state law.
The Western Board vacancy was left after the tragic passing of Director Donald D. Galleano, who formerly represented Division 4 of Western’s service area. Division 4 includes the communities of Eastvale, Jurupa Valley, and Norco (see map below).
Key dates are as follows:
- Wednesday, July 14, 2021 at 5 p.m. is the deadline for candidates to submit a letter of interest. Candidates are encouraged to complete a supplemental application.
- Eligible candidates will be scheduled for an interview to present their qualifications at the regularly scheduled Board of Directors meeting on Wednesday, July 21, 2021 at 9:30 a.m. The Board may elect to schedule additional meetings and interviews if necessary.
- The Board intends to appoint the new Director no later than Monday, Aug. 2, 2021.
To be eligible, candidates must live within the boundaries of Division 4 and be registered voters. A map of Division 4 is available on the Western website, or by calling Western at 951.571.7224 to confirm residency within Division 4.

The Division 4 Director’s seat will be placed on the ballot for the November 8, 2022 general election. The newly appointed Director will hold the office until the general election results are certified.
