Workshop No. 1 - Building a shared vision for a "sustainable Arlington Basin"
Thursday, July 30, 2020
What occurred: In this virtual workshop, attendees helped create a shared vision for what a “sustainable Arlington Basin” means. To inform the interactive exercise, the project team gave a brief recap of the purpose of the Groundwater Sustainability Plan (GSP) and the requirements of the Sustainable Groundwater Management Act (SGMA) in easy-to-understand terms. Next, the team summarized key takeaways of the Basin Setting work completed to-date, which describe the Basin’s unique geological makeup, potential challenges associated with groundwater management, and anticipated future groundwater use in the Basin. Further, the team described the historical and current water budget. Stakeholder input documented in this workshop will be summarized and posted to this website, and be shared with the Groundwater Sustainability Agency (GSA) to inform the decisions in the GSP.
Workshop No. 2 - Getting to sustainability
Thursday, Aug. 27, 2020
What occurred: In this virtual workshop, attendees helped determine the preliminary set of sustainability goals for the Arlington Basin and weigh in on the criteria they believe should drive the projects and management actions. To inform the interactive exercises, the project team recapped the shared vision of a "sustainable Arlington Basin" that stakeholders captured in Workshop No. 1. Next, the team described the relevant requirements of SGMA, including the role of Sustainable Management Criteria, minimum thresholds, and measurable objectives. Stakeholder input documented in this workshop will be shared with the GSA to inform the decisions in the GSP.
Virtual Workshop No. 3 - Review of draft sustainability goals
Wednesday, April 7, 2021 | 2 p.m. - 4 p.m. | Register now
What to expect: In this virtual workshop, stakeholders will have the opportunity to provide feedback on the draft sustainability goals that have been developed for the basin. To set the stage, the project team will provide an overview of the project, a recap of the basin setting, and a reminder of the guiding principles that were developed in partnership with stakeholders in our earlier workshops. Stakeholder input documented in this workshop will be shared with the GSA to inform the decisions in the Groundwater Sustainability Plan.
Registration is required. Upon registration you will receive an email with details on how to join the Zoom Meeting.
