Pilot Turf Replacement Program

Help California use less water. Did you know that approximately 60% of a residence’s water use in our area is outdoors? One of the most water-consuming plants in a typical residential landscape is the turfgrass lawn. By reducing or eliminating turfgrass, a homeowner can save approximately 1,800 gallons of water per month which translates into long-term savings. Additionally, the maintenance and equipment use required of the landscape will be greatly reduced.
Western Municipal Water District (“Western”) is offering a pilot turf removal program (“Program”) within its retail service area to help customers offset the costs associated with converting turfgrass to a climate-appropriate landscape. Customers may be eligible to receive up to $2400 for such a conversion at 40 cents per square foot. Please see the Rules page for additional information. Since this Program is of limited duration, and with a limited budget, there will be a limited number of customers who will be eligible to participate in the Program.
