Abandonment of agricultural service
Installation of service connection Service connections are made only on District mains and installed as authorized by the District. The District reserves the right to determine the size of the service connection and its location. The water service connection is the property of, and maintained by, the District. The customer's onsite piping is to be installed and maintained by the customer. Service connection charges must be paid prior to water service connection.
Additional charges for water service may include, but shall not be limited to:
Contact the Engineering Department for fees
The customer must comply with District requirements governing the separation of dual water systems and installations of backflow protection devices to protect the public water supply. Backflow protection devices must be installed as near the meter as possible. Water service may be refused or discontinued to any premises where a cross connection hazard exists. Whenever backflow protection is deemed necessary on a water supply line entering your premises, any and all water supply lines from the District's mains entering the premises, building, or structures shall be protected by a District approved backflow device. All backflow devices are installed and maintained at your expense. You are responsible for retaining a certified backflow device tester to verify annually that the device is working properly. Please call Western's Operating Center at 951.780.2450 for more information.
If you are engaged in handling especially dangerous liquids, industrial, or process waters, use a private well, or if other hazards exist, the District may require that you eliminate certain plumbing or piping connections as an additional precaution and as a protection to the backflow prevention devices.
Your water service may be immediately discontinued if any defect is found in the protective devices, or if it is found that dangerous, unprotected cross connections exist. Service will not be restored until such defects are corrected. Water service may be refused or discontinued to any premises where apparatus or appliances are in use that might endanger or disturb service to other customers.
You will be sent a letter confirming your request for water service. This letter will also contain a pressure statement and notification of one of the following probable pressure conditions:
High pressure water service Water service to the property will be subject to periodic high pressure in excess of 80 psi; therefore, it is necessary for you to purchase, install, and maintain a pressure-reducing control device in order to maintain satisfactory pressure.
Variable pressure water service Water service to the property may be subject to water pressure below 30 psi; therefore, it is necessary for you to purchase, install, and maintain a hydropneumatic pressure pump or other device to provide adequate pressure. Also, because of the location of the property, water service will be subject to periodic high pressure in excess of 80 psi. It will also be necessary for you to purchase, install, and maintain a pressure reducing device in order to maintain satisfactory pressure.
Low pressure water service Water service to the property may be subject to water pressure below 30 psi; therefore, in order to obtain satisfactory pressure, it may be necessary for you to purchase, install, and maintain a hydropneumatic pressure pump or other device.
No pressure water service Water service to the property will be subject to periods of no pressure; therefore, to obtain satisfactory water service, it will be necessary for you to purchase, install, and maintain off-site and on-site water lines and a hydropneumatic pressure pump or other device at the location designated by the District.
Customer's pressure regulator You may be responsible for the purchase, installation, maintenance, operation, and repair of a pressure regulator assembly. Such assembly shall meet the requirements of the latest Uniform Plumbing Code accepted by the County of Riverside and shall be installed at locations where required. Pressure zones will be determined by the District. It is recommended that the pressure regulator assembly be installed at a suitable location on your property so that all of your indoor and outdoor systems will then have regulated pressure.
Abandonment of agricultural service Water services are paid for by the customer and maintained by the District until abandonment, at which time the customer may salvage any and all materials beyond the point of disconnection |
